Description

The famous Cawood Sword derives its name from its discovery near Cawood Castle in England. This sword is considered one of the best-preserved and quality examples of all 11th century Viking swords. For almost a millenium . the sword was preserved by the mud of the bed of the River Ouse. Today the sword is on permanent display in the Yorkshire Museum and is the site's main attraction. In 1888 . what is considered to be its "sister" sword was uncovered in Norway . providing important clues to the birth of the Cawood Sword.

The Hanwei is careful to recreate the lobated pommel and sharply down curved quillons of the hilt as close to the original as possible. Today the blade is forged in 5160 high-carbon steel. The attention paid to the weight and balance result in a very usable sword. Although no detail is available concerning the original scabbard . the design of the Hanqei version follows the style of the period. .

Made by Hanwei.

Customer Testimonials

I ordered a Zatoichi Samurai Sword and when it arrived i noticed the box had been damaged. After opening it, I found out that the sword had a 'ding' in it and was slightly bent. I called Swords of Honor and they immediately issued a call tag for UPS to come pick it up and sent me a new one (which arrived perfectly).
