Description

Much like the Cinquedea during the Renaissance this earlier weapon was developed in an effort to be an all-in-one weapon - something larger than a dagger yet more compact and versatile than a short sword with similar cutting power. There were no doubt many reasons for carrying the Coustille. It was short enough to pass as a dagger in the walled towns and cities where only nobles were allowed to carry a sword openly but it was still long and wide enough to defend against a sword attack. It was easy to ride with as it could be thrust under a belt in varying positions. It has been suggested that the Coustille was favored by the typical man-at-arms for the main purpose of cutting the throats of prisoners that could not pay a ransom! Popular with knights as well as the rank and file The well-tempered blade is light and very fast. Steel pommel and guard with a wood grip covered in leather. Includes Scabbard. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.

  • Overall: 22"
  • Blade: 16-3/4" long . 2" wide . 3/16" thick
  • Wt: 1 lb/6 oz

    Customer Testimonials

I ordered a Zatoichi Samurai Sword and when it arrived i noticed the box had been damaged. After opening it, I found out that the sword had a 'ding' in it and was slightly bent. I called Swords of Honor and they immediately issued a call tag for UPS to come pick it up and sent me a new one (which arrived perfectly).
