| 16th Century Scottish Claymore | Sixteenth Century Claymore with leather wrapped ricasso (IP-069) features a Madagascar ebony handle with steel rings and the diamond- section quillons found on many period pieces. The leather wrapped ricasso, a feature found on many larger two-handed swords, provided extra leverage in close combat situations.
-Why you ask is this sword more than some Robert the Bruce Claymores? It comes with a full length top grain leather scabbard. This sword also features a full heavy tang.-
KEY FEATURES:
Improvement: It is more historically accurate in look and weight and also the way it is put together. As you can see from the above right picture the tang runs all the way through the pommel and then it is peened (mushroomed) to hold it in place. Historically this is the way most swords were assembled.
Full length leather scabbard is included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Blade Length: 42"
Overall Length: 57"
Weight: 6.5 lbs.
