New Frogs! | This style frog is seen in Medieval illumination countless times. It's our personal favorite and was obviously quite popular. Works on the same principle as those amazing tubular finger handcuffs. The harder you pull or push the tighter it grips. Our Leathersmith uses a double layer of heavy bridle leather for the backing. The scabbard is secured to this backing loop using soft yet study straps. You can use the excess strap to form a "peace tie." We don't claim the construction method to be historically accurate. What they've done is develop a simple and inexpensive way of recreating a classic Medieval look. The design works well for broadswords worn at the hip and daggers of many styles. A minimum scabbard width of 1-1/4 inches is required for swords, 1" for daggers. The standard frog fits belts up to 2 inches wide. All Medieval Sword and Dagger Frogs come with a black X strap & backing.
