Once this Naginata was a famous weapon of the Sohei or warrior monks in medieval Japan. When in their hands . this weapon was feared. Today it is still an important tool in the martial arts field. While retaining its traditional qualities . our naginata (SH1020) has been revised in order to meet the martial arts needs of today and qualify for use as an edged weapon. The blade has been hand forged in 1065 high-carbon steel and edge tempered using a traditional claying method. This makes the blade of the current naginata at least the equal of the originals. For balance and quickness . the the blade has a strong distal taper and has been mounted on a long tang to better absorb the shock of the blow. An elegant silver butterfly motif is featured on an engraved tsuba. A classic teardrop cross-section is featured on the very strong one-piece staff (ebu). This cross-section makes recognition of blade orientation easy. A black non-slip finish has been added for better control. A wooden saya and cloth bag are also supplied. Made by Hanwei. Key Features: * Hand forged high-carbon steel blade * Edge tempered * Tear-drop cross-section for correct blade orientation Specifications: Blade length: 20 1/4"Handle length: 55 1/2"Overall length: 76 3/4"Weight: 4lb 10oz Thickness at Guard: .305 Box height: 80"Box width: 7"

Customer Testimonials

I ordered a Zatoichi Samurai Sword and when it arrived i noticed the box had been damaged. After opening it, I found out that the sword had a 'ding' in it and was slightly bent. I called Swords of Honor and they immediately issued a call tag for UPS to come pick it up and sent me a new one (which arrived perfectly).
