Description

Well known martial artist and teacher Scott M. Rodell produced the design for this Chinese Cutting Sword with the goal to produce a purpose-built weapon for the art of cutting in Chinese Swordsmanship. Hanwei developed a unique steel formulation and heat treatment regimen that is used on this sword. This process results in a blade with optimized edge hardness and body toughness . a desired characteristic in a cutting sword. The purpose of the sword is further supported by the classic and simple steel fittings which allow for uncluttered lines while not swaying from tradition. For secure handeling . black leather-over-cranberry rayskin has been used for the grip. Elegant rosewood is used for the scabbard and fittings to match the hilt complete the stylish product.

Scott M. Rodell has spent 25 years training in Yang Style Taijiquan . indeed an impressive aspect of his career. In additional . he has trained both in the U.S. and Chine under noted Chinese masters. He is the founding Director of the Great River Taoist Center . based in Washington D.C. with branches in the U.S. . Russia . Estonia . Netherlands . Germany and Australia. Rodell authored "Chinese Swordsmanship . the Yang Family Taiji Jian Tradition" and "A Practical Guide to Test Cutting for Historical Swordsmanship" . both materials come highly recommended.

Made by Hanwei.

Customer Testimonials

I ordered a Zatoichi Samurai Sword and when it arrived i noticed the box had been damaged. After opening it, I found out that the sword had a 'ding' in it and was slightly bent. I called Swords of Honor and they immediately issued a call tag for UPS to come pick it up and sent me a new one (which arrived perfectly).
